THURSDAY 27 OCTOBER Maria Mittleton, local teacher and author, will talk to the Club about ‘Ochi Day’ on October 28th. The day is a national holiday in Greece and Cyprus. It recalls the rejection by Greece’s leader Ioannis Metaxas of an ultimatum of 28-10-1940 by Benito Mussolini to allow Italian troops into Greece. It also celebrates the heroism of the WW2 Greek resistance.
